Arkansas Response Coordination Center
ADEM operates a 24x7, 365 day a year communications point for all things Emergency Management related. Staffing these positions are highly trained Duty Officers. Their primary responsibilities are to interact with all counties in the State of Arkansas to keep record and assist local Emergency Managers with state resources if requested. They serve as a warning point and local call center to report both natural and man made disaster situations. Duty officers use call down lists to notify essential personnel based on the severity of an incident. This branch is also tasked with deploying and setting up the Mobile Communications Vehicle (MCV). The MCV can be deployed to areas of disasters to help assist local agencies in providing communications during an event or outage.
ADEM Duty Officers use and support the Arkansas Wireless Information Network or AWIN system. AWIN is a multi-phased program that leverages new and existing wireless resources to create a statewide interoperable wireless communication system for emergency responders and Arkansas public service entities. ADEM Duty Officers also serve as a coordinator for radio traffic by use of the Multi Agency Channels. They are able to assign these channels so multiple agencies can communicate on one frequency. This assists the local jurisdictions by enabling them to use and practice the National Incident Management System or NIMS.
