Maintenance

The Maintenance branch is responsible for maintaining the grounds and the building equipment at ADEM.

Generators ADEM houses two 800 KW Kohler brand generators that automatically start up in the event our building loses power. Only one of the generators runs during a power outage in the event one of the generators fails. Each generator is attached to a fuel supply that will run the generators for two weeks without being re-fueled. There is a five second delay from when the generator is initially started to when it supplies the building with full generated power. Maintenance can also manually start the generator if needed. This is done during times of severe weather where the possibility of losing power is greatest. Doing this bypasses the five second delay needed to switch to generated power.

UPS System ADEM’s uninterrupted power systems or (UPS) are designed to power essential systems between the times of a power outage to the time the generators start generating power. The UPS system keeps the essential systems from ever losing power. If there is a problem with a generator it gives personnel time to properly power the building down.
