Communications

The Communications Division aids in the direction and control of agency resources. Arkansas Acts 511, 687, 646 provide for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management to:

• Operate and maintain communication systems.
• Establish additional communication systems as deemed necessary by the Director.

The Communications Division provides coordination, guidance, technical assistance, and resources to local, state, and federal agencies on matters related to technology systems and/or their reestablishment during times of disaster. The Division is made up of the following branches:

• The Information Technology Branch which is responsible for the establishment, maintenance and implementation of information technology.
• The Arkansas Response Coordination Center Branch which is responsible for the staffing the 24/7 ARC Center and mobile command vehicle.
• The Telecommunications Branch that maintains all radios, phones, and Audio/Visual equipment.
• The Property Management Branch is responsible for the accountability of all equipment and inventory control.
• The Maintenance Branch maintains the facility, grounds, and all agency vehicles.
